A dentist in the Security Forces Hospital Program in Dammam, Dr. Wajma Al-Sayed, revealed to the Saudi newspaper Al-Youm that gingivitis is the most prevalent among the age group of 25 years and above, while tooth decay is the highest among young people, explaining that 50% of people are ignorant of the correct way to use the toothbrush, which It causes inflammation of the gums and the exit of blood, where brushing is the most important way to take care of oral and dental hygiene, which prevents the accumulation of tartar, tooth decay and gum disease and keeping the surfaces of the teeth clean throughout the day and prevents the accumulation of tartar and thus reduces the chances of tooth decay and gingivitis and therefore all surfaces of the teeth must be cleaned with brushing And putty.

The doctor warned Al-Sayed, with the month of Ramadan approaching, against eating a lot of caramel, jelly and the like, or drinking unnatural juices because they contain sugary substances whose deposits remain in the teeth after the suhoor table, with the importance of using the toothbrush and toothpaste before bed on a regular basis.

Concerning the benefit of miswak instead of the brush, she declared: The use of miswak is complementary to the use of the brush, because of its benefits that cannot be ignored, but it does not replace the toothbrush, as relying only on miswak is not sufficient. And wash it after each use, and the other problem lies in putting it in the pocket exposed and exposed to the accumulation of dirt.

For his part, the head of the dental department at the Security Forces Hospital Program in Dammam, Lt. Col. Dr. Yousef Al-Mutairi, explained that the campaign included a section for women and a section for men with medical staff of both sexes to examine the patients and explain the proper methods of using toothpaste and dental floss, the quality of healthy balanced eating, and the distribution of samples for oral health care. It contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, educational brochures, and answers the inquiries and questions of the auditors, explaining that the campaign targeted all ages and nationalities with the participation of dentists in the Security Forces Hospital Program and Dammam University.

The Director of the Public Relations and Media Affairs Department at the hospital, Yazid Al-Dossary, said that under the guidance of the General Department of Medical Services at the Ministry of Interior and the support of the Hospital Director General, Brigadier General Doctor Ali Al-Dosari, the Security Forces Hospital Program in Dammam has adopted many national programs for awareness and health promotion in cooperation with international bodies and national universities that aim to Raising health awareness, including the How to Keep Your Smile campaign, to raise awareness of the importance of dental care, oral health, methods of prevention and care for all members of society.

The Security Forces Hospital Program in Dammam had organized an awareness campaign entitled (How to keep your smile) last Monday in a commercial complex in Al-Khobar Governorate, and it lasted for a week and was supervised by a group of doctors, specialists and oral health technicians at the hospital and the University of Dammam.
