The surgical team at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Tabuk succeeded in saving the life of a pregnant woman (29 years) and her fetus, after she underwent an urgent operation to remove a tumor from the parathyroid gland, as she was suffering from relapse and a sharp rise in the level of calcium and parathyroid hormone in the blood (where she was The ratio of the hormone is 413 pg/ml).

The surgical consultant, Dr. Osama Turki Abu Salem, who performed the surgery, explained that this sharp rise did not respond to conservative treatment due to the conflict of medicines with pregnancy and its danger to the fetus, as it began to lead to disturbances in the heart rate and may lead to cardiac arrest. Immediately, the operation was performed on the patient, as the calcium level decreased immediately after the operation and returned to the normal level to be 21 pg/ml. Praise be to God, the operation was crowned with success, and the condition of the mother and fetus is in good health. It is worth noting that globally, only 19 published scientific cases of emergency surgery for such patients were recorded at the end of pregnancy, but at the beginning of pregnancy, this operation is considered one of the qualitative and emergency operations in the world.
